Chickens, Horses, and a Walk through the Park
After doing my errands in the Cove and getting my hair cut , I wandered over to Anne to pick up eggs. On the way, I accompanied a lost hiker to the trail to Killarney Lake. It turned out she grew up in the West End and went to Lord Roberts School. We talked about walking and the car culture. Her parents did not have a car, so she does not miss it. Her license is only 2 years old, so she has to wait another year until she can become a Car Coop member. I enjoyed the exchange, and was reminded again how, when you walk, people cross your path you would not meet otherwise.
It was an extraordinary beautiful day, and I was glad to be outside. Horst went for another training walk (he wants to be in good shape when he walks 800 km in the fall in Spain) and walked to and from the Building Centre to get some supplies. I took a bunch of pictures of Anne’s chickens and her miniature horses. The chickens are a joy to watch as they walk through the yard and scratch and make chicken noises. The miniature horses were on the pasture by the Collins Farm house, where Keyo lives now, tending to the Collinsia Garden (their produce sells at the Ruddy Potato).
