Cycling around Stanley Park
On the last day of summer, we headed to Stanley Park and toured around the seawall with rented bicycles and inline skates. The terrain was perfect for us flatland cyclists and the weather was warm enough for a swim at third beach. A perfect way to end the season. I have since been given a bicycle which I am hoping to take on similar rides, once it is tuned and the tires are fixed.
While we enjoyed our bike ride, our cousin's experience during that outing was not so great. The wheels were not aligned, as the wheels on one shoe were slanted, which he did not recognize right away, thinking it might be the terrain. He was able to complete the trip around the park with extra strain on his ankle. Upon our return we showed the problem to the clerk at Stanley Park Cycle and asked for a partial refund. It was dismissed as our problem even though he recognized that the wheels were slanted out of alignment. We were told that we should have called as soon as the problem was apparent. That was good advice after the fact, but this company has not won my vote for customer service or the proper care of equipment. Next time we will rent from Spokes Bicycle Rentals, hoping for better service and equipment.
