Early Ferry

If I had a choice, I would go to bed around midnight and get up when my eyes open naturally. In reality, I go to bed too late and must get up too early. I think some of these habits are learned, but I am sure our body also reacts to light and seasonal influences. Last week, I had to take the 5:30 a.m. ferry and thought I would have a really hard time getting up so early. It was not so bad, I actually enjoyed listening to the birds singing and seeing the sky getting lighter. Traffic was flowing easily and the city was still quiet.

If I had to commute every day, I would choose to take this ferry, at least in the summer months – the winter with its dark, wet mornings is another story. Given a choice I would probably hibernate in the winter.
