Thanks a lot for making our stay so casual and comfortable.

A perfect introduction to Bowen.

The breakfasts alone were worth the trip.

Especially the almost-sweet bread.

Looking forward to our return sometime in the future!

A collection of guest comments

Below are some of the comments we have received from guests over the years. Feel free to contact us with your comments.

Dear Anne & Horst

Thank you for an amazing weekend getaway. We enjoyed your gracious hospitality. We were greeted with a very comfortable stay and look forward to returning and staying with you again..

We are still talking about the amazing breakfast we enjoyed!!

Take care and see you again!

Indy and Kelly.

Dear Anne and Horst,

We just wanted to say thank-you for having us at your lovely bed and breakfast this weekend. On Saturday after breakfast we went for a hike around Killarney Lake, then we walked to Artisan Square for lunch. We had hot chocolates from the Artisan Chocolate Cafe, which were delicious. Then we took a bus ride out to Bluewater, and spent a little bit of time on Bowen Bay beach before heading back to Snug Cove. Later that afternoon we caught the ferry back to the mainland. Thanks again, we had a great time on the island.
Cheers,
    Olive & Gavin

Dear Anne and Horst,

A long overdue thanks for such warm hospitality last summer. Your home was the perfect end of the journey after a very long drive. My daughter felt so welcomed and at home and marvelled at your back yard wildlife and fresh blackberries. Bowen Island will always be a fond memory - not just because of my nephew’s wedding, but because of your smiles and home. Patricia Cawley Reid

To Horst and Anne:
Thank you for your wonderful hospitality and your compelling stories. We have really enjoyed ourselves and hope to visit again soon. Keep in good health. We will check out Horst’s blogs and Flickr and look forward to reading his book! All the best, Christine & Don.

Hi Anne & Horst,
Thanks again for making our stay so lovely. Cindy, Matt, Sienna and Imogen.

Hi Anne,
Sehr gemütlich, vielen Dank. We felt really relaxed and “at home”. Good sleep, good food, thank you. - I guess that’s a Peacock next door somewhere? Now that’s different. Thanks again, Steve and Heidi.

Many thanks for your wonderful and special hospitality this past week, shown to us both. Thank you for your delicious cakes and fresh fruit, and good conversation. Blessings, and sincerely, Thomas and Margaret.

From German speaking guests:

Vielen Dank, dass Du die Kinder auf so eine liebe Art begleitet hast; durch Dich haben sie sich ein Stück mehr zu Hause gefühlt. Wir werden Dich und auch die Schule immer in guter Erinnerung haben und hoffen, dass sich unsere Wege vielleicht irgendwann mal wieder kreuzen. Dir und Deinem Mann alles Liebe und viele liebe Grüsse von Georg und Judi.

… The food was excellent and we really enjoyed our walk that you took us on. Thank you both for a wonderful stay at your B&B. It was great!

We had an excellent breakfast this morning. Thanks for your hospitality. We enjoyed our stay at your house. It is lovely and we hope to come back and visit you soon.

Thank you so much for your wonderful European-style hospitality!

We really enjoyed your breakfasts and especially your conversation (and cakes!).

We are greateful for you making our little holiday ‘celebration’ very special - more so than we imagined.

We hope you have a wonderful remainder to your summer. Perhaps you’ll see us again when we need a break from the ‘big’ city.

All the best - thanks!! Lisa & Shanto

Dear Anne & Horst,

Just a quick note from the Rockies to say thank you for your hospitality and also, a BIG thanks for delivering our bags!! The memories of Bowen Island will take us a long way this year.

Thank you for welcoming me into your home and allowing me to “practice relaxing”. I really enjoyed my time here and hope to return one day soon. Please assure Felix (Ed: our cat) that although I’m returning home to my boyfriend, not a day will pass that I won’t think of him. He is my one true love! I hope you enjoy the chocolate. Remember: everything in moderation.

Guest Comment from 1997

This was obviously written in 1997 before our trip to Europe visiting family and friends. The next similar trip was not to be until 2012.

Dear Anne & Horst,
I talked to Ken today and told him what a great gift he had given his parents on their anniversary. Walt and I really enjoyed our evening with you, and Anne, your cake and dessert was so delicious. What a nice thing to do. Walt and I had a long walk around Killarney Lake this morning, about 2-1/2 hours. Very beautiful.
Have a wonderful holiday in Europe this summer.

Sincerely,
Walt and Liz Bilicki

Guest Message from 1993

Dear Anne & Horst,

I couldn’t let “our” happening pass without writing to thank you so much for your kindness and assistance - for a pair of lost Americans. You certainly went out of your way to help us and made our visit to your island very pleasant. (your very BEAUTIFUL island).
Our lodgings were very clean and comfortable and our breakfast was wonderful. We wish you good fortune with your Bed & Breakfast and if we are ever up that way again (and we could be, because of Caren Walters) we will most certainly call for accommodation.
Thanks again and God Bless you.
Sincerely, Betty & Matt Medicus

Darling Downs Mushrooms

In recreating guest messages from written records, I found the business card of Greg and Carol Holden of Queensland, Australia. They were side-tracked to Bowen Island on their way to Whistler after attending a “Mushroom Growers’ Convention” in Vancouver. We quite enjoyed their visit, talking about their country and about Canada.
